Home is Where the Heart is

My inclination for online shopping has increased dramatically over the past few months. From that new bomber jacket that I think I need or yet another pair of black cigarette trousers to add to my wardrobe, me and my OTP come with the quickness. I’ve replaced wine glasses and bathroom accessories at the click of a button so it was only a matter of time before I took the plunge and ordered some furniture for my humble abode.

Moving back to Cape Town with nothing but my suitcases meant less Friday night lights action and more time spent on deciding whether a rose gold floor lamp is in fact a need or an Instagram-worthy want. Thankfully @Home has come to the rescue by extending their online offering to include furniture. This new addition means you can order that ottoman you’ve been eyeing just before you decide on what to order for lunch. I’ve touched on the pains of adulting and how i’m on the pursuit to make it easier before so this can only be a step in the right direction. Unlike clothing, I believe the comforts that make your house (apartment in my case) a home should be the best quality you can afford and the big buys should be classic to grow with your taste as the years pass. Don’t get me wrong because I love fast fashion as much as the next person but the same does not apply to the couch in my lounge. This is an investment that you need to think through carefully…unless you can afford and have the time and energy to revamp your lounge, kitchen or bedroom on a yearly basis. It will be painful in the beginning but worth it in the end!

Luckily the items available won’t have you living on two minute noodles for the rest of the month because @Home has managed to find the balance between providing good quality items at an affordable price. Some online shopping experiences can be shaky but this was not the case here. Still not convinced? There are five secure payment options you can choose from: credit card, via your store card, EFT and an e-gift card. You can also pay via snapscan if the order is less than R5000. Their support team was in touch enough that I knew exactly where my order was and I was notified about 30 mins prior to the delivery; great news if someone won’t be home and you need a reminder to leave the office just before the goods arrive. Also there’s no need to find the DIY king or queen in you because they also offer the option to assemble your piece upon delivery during checkout.

What more could you ask for? I think i’m at a point where i’ll have to exercise a good deal of self-control to avoid making some late night browsing for new whiskey glasses.
