Our morning at the Cotton On Christmas Preview got off to a super early start with a much needed caffeine boost and some delectable breakfast treats. We were lead through the different sections of the store and Marketing Manager, Jeff gave us a run down behind the inspiration for upcoming collections for the various brands that make up the Cotton On Group.
Guys
As Summer approaches, the guys can look forward to darker, more refined floral, botanical and aloha prints inspired by the retro charm of the 50s. This move away from the overly tropical prints has given Blue a chance to stand out as the key colour of this season. So the Classic Chambray shirt will still be an essential except with a washed-out feel and a twist from the flora and fauna-inspired prints.
Ladies
Overall, Tropical and Floral inspired-prints with a soft rock n’ roll edge is what you can look forward to seeing in the upcoming months leading to Summer. The collection is perfect for the festival season, but also has a beachy surf feel to evoke a relaxed yet sporty feel. Sports luxe also makes a welcome return this season- not only as part of casualwear but also the Cotton On Body brand. So imagine lush green botanical prints paired with a monochromatic palette of stripes and prints. Seafoam is set to be a hit this season and as the weather heats up- highlights of melons, corals and cheeky, fruit prints like Pineapple and Watermelon will make a guest appearance too.
In terms of our must-have items for the season, the new swimwear range is what we’re looking forward to getting our hands on the most. The Poolside Paradise collection features a mix of surf and scuba-inspired fabrics like neoprene and mesh, bold pops of colour with retro shapes and modern cut-out designs in both bikinis and one-piece suits. So there’s a little bit of everything for everyone because of the various shapes and silhouettes available.
An unexpected surprise was the announcement of Rubi branching out into beauty. In November, Rubi will be launching a collection offering everyday essentials such as lipstick, nail polish, bronzers and perfume to name a few. As lipstick and nail polish junkies, we were happy to hear that there will be 20 shades to choose from in crème and matte finishes as well as an eclectic mix of 20 nail colours- all starting reasonably at 80 bucks.
In keeping with the Christmas theme, we were all given a wishlist to put down our most coveted items. We’re hoping Santa thinks we’ve been well-behaved this year!
