TO DO | SECRETEATS

Last Friday I was invited to a secretEATS dinner courtesy of Gummie Co. I first heard about Gummie via Instagram after they collaborated with Nifty260 for an instawalk in Cape Town. Naturally, I had FOMO for this but decided to follow Gummie on instagram anway to keep track of the other cool things that they get the people of South Africa involved in.

To my surprise, founder of Gummie, Ksenia had taken notice of me on Instagram and decided to invite me to one of the Johannesburg tours that her lovely platform provided. Being the true fatty that I am on the inside, I instantly went for the secretEATS experience, anything that involves, food, wine and a good vibe is always something right up my alley.

I had heard a few whispers about this whole secretEATS experience but didn’t quite know much about so I couldn’t wait to experience it myself. On the night of the secretEATS I attended alone. I have the worst social anxiety so going to such an intimate event on my lonesome was something I was definitely not ready for.

Fortunately for me, the guests attending were so friendly and welcoming and ensured that I had a lovely time as it was not their first time attending a secret dinner. The food and company was lovely. I still day dream about the beef fillet with the raspberry mustard sauce prepared by lovely chef, Sasha Simpson. More than anything the underground dinning experience was the highlight of my evening.

I would definitely recommend anyone to try this out but never alone. As fun as it was to meet new people, this is definitely an experience that you would want to share with your girlfriends or bae. Bookings are mandatory and tickets are non-refundable.

I discovered you guys on the generation Soweto and I am glad I found your blog and your instagrams. You have given me a fresh perspective on South Africa. I am moving back to the contient and possibly SA so your blog is like a wealth of very helpful information.

You have a solid fan in me. Keep up the good work.
