Out of all the Levi’s denim that I own, the 501®CT is definitely my favourite item. The 501®CT’s are super comfortable and look great dressed up or down. They give my everyday look a break from the typical skinny jeans attire. Now when I was told that a combination of my everyday go to jeans and skinnys were in the making, I definitely had to rush off to store, try on a pair and see if they come even close to my fav pair.
The 501® jean was created over 100 years ago, a durable pair of working pants that made an incredible impact on style and culture. These pants have evolved over the years, adapting to everyday activities, suitable for the rockstars, presidents, athletes, visionaries and everyday working men and women. Today we see this classic and iconic pair of jeans, remastered and customised once again with a slimmer leg and higher waist. Who doesn’t love a high-waisted pair of jeans? I know I do! High waisted bottoms are my secret to looking slimmer and taller than I really am.
The skinny jean has become a staple in all of our wardrobes so the creation of fav jeans, with a slimmer appearance definitely made me happy. The 501® Skinny adds authentic, vintage feel to your closet that only the creators of the blue jean can offer.
“People have been altering their vintage 501® jeans for a snug, skinnier fit for years, so
we followed that as inspiration and created a vintage-looking 501® Skinny.” – Jonathan Cheung, Head of Design at Levi’s® Brand.
Available in non-stretch, low stretch and a range of washes for both men and women, the 501® Skinny joins the 501® Family, alongside the 501® Original and 501®CT. If you remember from this post on the 501®CT, you will notice that the difference between the 501®CT and 501® skinny is that the CT sits a the waist and is slightly fitted through hip and thigh with a tapered leg and a button fly whereas the 501® skinny Women’s has a waist-enhancing rise and the Men’s sits below the waist with a skinny leg.
Levi’s invited a couple of social media cool kids to their store in Sandton City to find their perfect fit and take home as a gift. My body is shaped a little differently to the average woman with a tiny waist and very round bottom, so when it comes to finding the right fit of jeans, it does take me a few tries till I find the perfect pair. A 29 waist and 32 hips size was the closest I could find and even that wasn’t juuust right, I still need to get the jeans taken in a bit around the waist till they are absolutely perfect for me.
What do you guys think about the jeans? How would you style them?
