Sunglass Hut hosted one of the hottest parties of the year on 14 November 2013. I was fortunate enough to get an invite to this VVIP Party from a local blogger, Jerri Mofokeng, to this secret star studded event.
Naturally I attended this event with my best friend because I definitely did not want to stand out like a sore thumb. Finding the perfect outfit for such
an event gave me several panic attacks but once I had everything together, I was ready to go.
The party was at Shine Studios in Braamfontien, Johannesburg and the guests were welcomed with a gift voucher and yummy drinks to get the night going.
South Africa’s one and only Queen B, Bonang Matheba was the MC for the night and welcomed us all with the bubbly Georgia Jagger who is the face of the SunglassHut. Both ladies looked impeccable and took the time to take photos and dance with guests throughout the night.
Despite being anxious and a bit nervous about being surrounded by Mzansi’s stars, the open bar and tunes by DJ Kent helped me relax a bit lol. Mafikizolo also graced the stage and performed a number of their latest hits. They also performed their earlier songs which took me back to the days when everyone played their songs at their weddings and we all danced the codesa like a million times lol – this too happened at the party. It was very refreshing to see some of our local starlets let loose on the dance floor with no shame.
I am very grateful to have experienced such an event which was totally different to my usual Cape nights spent at The Loop. However, it made me realize that “celebrities” are very similar to us ordinary citizens, they too are very cliquey and seem a bit pretentious with the wiiiiide smiles and air kisses.
I hope I get to attend more events such as this one because the open bar and lavish gifts are definitely worth the panic attacks and anxiety!
