Hair | FRESH START

After 2 years of having natural hair, I think I’ve finally found my own method of maintaining and styling my hair. But as many natural hair babies know, no day is ever the same. Those curls could be on their best behaviour for the entire week only to break your heart on Friday- which also happens to be girls night out. Eek!
I started off with a cute ball of fluff for an afro but I really wanted to change my look to something a bit more edgy. So I spent weeks trolling hair blogs and Pinterest boards and finally found the courage to make my way into the land of the Fades. Although my new look meant quick and easy styling, having less hair to work with soon became quite limiting. I’m not one to spend hours laboring over my hair so this is why I always turn to the two-strand twist to switch up my look. I love the wild, untamed curls that it gives my hair. So much so that it has become a signature look of sorts.

Soon my signature hairstyle became a favourite and many other ladies decided to jump on the hair wagon and cut their hair into that style too. It has been said that women cut their hair when they want a fresh start in all aspects of their lives. I have had a rough couple of days which has simply made me realise that I just need to growth the fuck up – excuse my french. So I chopped the hair and other annoying factors in my life. Besides my hair being unhealthy from lack of daily maintenance, I had outgrown the hairstyle jacked by many and needed a new look.

if you’re a natural hair baby I want to welcome you to my Hair Journey on our new YouTube channel! This channel will bring you fun things that I get up to in and around Joburg. The hair segment will document the growth of my hair since I have gone completely short, new product reviews and cool regimes that I use in my personal capacity. I need to stress the fact that I still have so much to learn about my hair so I’m no expert. However, I really want to start taking special care of my hair and experimenting with styles and looks. Luckily this means that you can look forward to seeing a whole lot more tutorials, tips and tricks as we document our hair journey and hopefully give you guys some new things to try.

What are some of your hair secrets?
