Pre-Campaign Fun – Part 1 | #Stellenblog

Me and my fellow bloggers were lucky enough to explore a few of the gems surrounding Stellenbosch the weekend before all the #Stellenblog fun began.

Our first evening together started off with an intimate dinner at Spier’s Eight Restaurant; one of Stellenbosch’s most premium wine estates and also a Mama Moli fav. Being the typical only child that I am, I shied away from sitting too far from someone who I already knew, in this case my wonderful Mama bear, Mariette from Destinate.

Although I didn’t realise it until the end of the campaign, the first night really set the tone for the campaign. The more experienced travel bloggers seemed to settle right in as conversations around the dinner table revolved from politics, travel, blogging, photography to the wonders of Tinder!

I don’t usually indulge in pork products, except bacon – bacon is life – but I went back for seconds and thirds of the succulent pork belly, it was too damn good! I absolutely loved that all the food that we enjoyed that evening was grown organically on the Spier farm.

After a lovely evening, hugs and kisses went around with a hint of excitement in the air and at that stage I was certain I was in for a treat over the next week. For the rest of the weekend, the international bloggers explored the city of Cape Town while Natalie of Tails of a Mermaid and I invaded the Cape Town Coastal Route.

Our Saturday got off to an early start with some fun in the ocean at Gary’s Surf School in Muizenburg which is only 40 minutes away from Stellenbosch. This worked up quite an appetite so we trotted into Tiger’s Milk for brunch with a beautiful view and easily the best rib-eye I’ve had. Finally, we made a quick stop in Kalk Bay for some shopping and ice-cream from The Ice Cafe.

By the end of this, I was exhausted and looking forward to nursing my bruises from our surfing lessons. So you can only imagine how keen I was on checking in at Majeka House to end off the weekend for some rest and relaxation – just what my sore body needed after a full day out at shore.

But it would be a crime not to enjoy a delicious Sunday afternoon in Stellenbosch. We made our way to Peter Falke for wine tasting along with a scrumptious cheese board – a perfect day in the winelands! I immediately fell in love with this venue as we walked out to see giant bean bags scattered across their great, green lawns and a ginormous chair that my two princess niece’s absolutely loved. Once that was done, we checked into to the incredible Majeka House before moving into our secret villa.

A lazy afternoon in the hot tub followed by a full body hot stone massage, the perfect cure for my aching bones was just what I needed to get my batteries recharged for the beginning of what was set to be an exciting campaign. Majeka House was definitely a highlight of the trip. Read more about it in Part 3 of #Stellenblog.
