I hate winter. I cannot stand the cold, however, the upside to all of it is the fashion. I’ve been having the most fun with dress up this Winter but as lovely as the fashion is, I am pretty sure we are all tired of everything “Winter”, the lack of activities to do because it’s so cold and having to layer the chunky knits every morning.
With the new, warmer season approaching we can look forward to fresh takes on classic denims, new silhouettes and various ways of pairing garments that you might already own. When one thinks of the nautical trend, we think navy & bold reds, stripes and shirts. This classic trend has a way of reinventing itself every year, we’ve seen it come alive in bold stripes and cropped culottes. I am no trend forecasters but I can definitely see how denim will play a huge role in the revival of the trend come spring.
As seen in this look post, I have replaced the usual navy aspect of the nautical trend with this chic denim dress and paired it with a plain white tee, nude heels and a classic red lip to seal the trend. I am not a fan of long dresses as I do tend to look frumpy in them but I absolutely love this length and how the dress accentuates my waist and shows off my curves. This look is super casual so the addition of the heel was essential, however, b if you want to dress all the way down you can replace the heels with a pair of sneakers and be on your way.
Throw over a camel coat to elevate the sophistication, this look is also another great example of the transitional wearing that I discussed in the previous post, read here.
What’s your take on the nautical trend? How would you bring life to this classic?
